Graduated with honors from the Robert Schumann Hochschule and the Universidad EAFIT, Juan Manuel has been a multiple winner of the Jóvenes Intérpretes series of the Banco de la República and has been awarded in several national and international competitions in Europe and Latin America. Thanks to his great sensitivity and technical skills, he has established himself as one of the most outstanding Colombian guitarists of his generation.
Juan Manuel completed his undergraduate and master's studies at the EAFIT University under the tutelage of Alejandro Valencia, and later studied at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany, in the class of Alexander-Sergei Ramirez. He is currently pursuing a Konzertexamen degree at the Musikhochschule Münster as a student of Marcin Dylla as a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
His work as a performer includes different styles, from Renaissance to contemporary music, and due to his special interest in the Latin American repertoire he completed in 2018 an exchange program at the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
As a soloist, Juan Manuel has given concerts in Colombia, Brazil, Germany, Spain and Belgium and has played at various guitar festivals, including the IV International Guitar Festival of Espiritu Santo in Vitoria, the "Viva la Guitarra" festival in Düsseldorf and the International Guitar Festival of Medellin.
Juan Manuel has received master classes with important guitarists such as David Russell, Joaquín Clerch, Alvaro Pierri, Ricardo Gallén, Judicaël Perroy, Gabriel Bianco, among others.
